Replace Your Drafty Aluminum Windows!
High-quality vinyl windows are a popular choice for many homeowners. They offer good energy efficiency, come in a variety of colors, are durable and virtually maintenance free.
“Typically, 95 percent of what we sell is the white vinyl,” says Angell Ford of Window World of Central PA, in York, Pennsylvania. “People are looking for energy efficiency with a double-pane, low emissivity, argon gas-filled glass. They’re looking for easy cleaning and a maintenance-free window.”
Benefits of Vinyl Windows
New vinyl retrofit replacement windows can make an enormous difference in your home's curb appeal, comfort level, noise reduction and heating bills compared to those drafty old aluminum framed windows! Vinyl replacement windows seal tightly, don't conduct heat (or cold), are easy to clean and maintain, and are impervious to rot.
Vinyl replacement windows have a naturally high degree of insulation simply due to the poor conductivity of the vinyl. Internal dead air chambers further increase insulation and sound deadening qualities. So unlike aluminum windows, replacement vinyl retrofit windows significantly reduce the amount of heat loss during winter and heat gain during summer. Mold and mildew – so common with aluminum framed windows - is virtually eliminated with replacement vinyl windows. Modern vinyl windows have a high R-value, which is simply a numerical way of stating the degree of insulative ability a material provides.
Vinyl retrofit replacement windows are the go-to window of choice for homeowners ready to replace drafty old aluminum windows. Residential vinyl replacement and retrofit windows are affordable, energy efficient, low maintenance and come in every window configuration imaginable to increase the comfort of every room in your home. Already have vinyl windows in a newer home that are already failing and fogging? See our Vinyl Window Repair page.
Low-E Glass
All new replacement vinyl windows sold today come standard with Low-E. "Low-E" is a microscopic coating of transparent metal oxide layers on the inner glass surface of a window. Simply put, Low-E works by reflecting heat back to its source. In summer, Low-E significantly reduces heat gain from the intense rays of the afternoon sun. During the winter, it works in reverse, keeping heat inside the house from escaping through the window glass.
Not all Low-E coatings are equal, however. Some Low-E coatings are specially designed to more effectively reduce heat gain, like the Cardinal 366. We recommend this Low-E to homeowners with large south or west facing homes that experience too much heat gain.
See our window options page for managing summer heat. Cardinal 366 Low-E also significantly reduces UV fading. We are happy to recommend the best Low-E for your windows based on the orientation of your home and windows.

Designer Window Options
Not all windows are equal - or need to be equal. One homeowner may live next to a heavily-used road and need increased sound control. Another homeowner may have a west-facing sun room that is unusable during the summer months due to too much afternoon sun. We can custom tailor windows to suit every home, budget and situation.
